Understanding and Dealing with Professional Burnout of Diabetes Educators

Abstract
As the helping professional role for diabetes educators is required gradually, the possibility of professional burnout is increased. The burnout of diabetes educators has negative effect on the relationship with patients and results in vicious cycle to relapse the burnout so that it should be handled well for both patients and educators. In order to prevent and deal with professional burnout, it is important to the prevention or early detection of burnout by sensitively identifying the signal of burnout based on understanding of concepts and cause of the burnout, and to deal with relapse the burnout. This article will discuss the concept of professional burnout, the process, signal, causes and prevention of burnout and practical strategies for conversion to increase the concern for the diabetes educators, and help to minimize and resolve the burnout effectively.
